St. Joseph Cathedral, Sioux Falls, SD

Mar 10, 2010

In 1942, Conrad Schmitt Studios decorated and painted St. Joseph's Cathedral, Sioux Falls, SD.  In 2008, the Studio was called back to create a decorative sample at this important Catholic house of worship, and are now in the process of completing the final phase of the decorative restoration. A historic paint investigation helped guide the restoration design. The scope of work includes the removal of existing paints, plaster patching and repair, priming, painting, highlights to ornamental plaster, fine art murals, and restoration of the Stations of the Cross.

"Its really a great gift...hopefully it will invigorate all. Not only those who are Catholics but those who come here and see this building on the hill as a sign of hope in a world, when we need signs of hope," said Bishop Paul Swain.
