St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Knoxville, TN - Conrad Schmitt Studios is privileged to have provided the new stained glass, murals & interior decoration for the newly constructed St. John Neumann Catholic Church. A total of 6 ambulatory windows, 2 transept windows, 20 clerestory windows and 8 large Nave windows were designed, created and installed by the CSS artisans. A large mural, approximately 2,034 sq. ft., fills the upper dome with painted images of the Epiphany scene, Jesus on the Mount with eleven apostles and triumphant angels grouped on either side. The Holy Spirit mural in the cupola completes the dome. The lower ring of the dome carries inspirational wording and stenciled designs that tie into the surrounding pendentive areas with murals of St. Augustine, Pope St. Gregory the Great, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Therese of Lisieux. A painted background in the Apse hood continues the color scheme into the Sanctuary. In the Nave, 30 trompe l'oeil canvases for niches at the tri-forum level replicate the color and design of the dome and the Sanctuary for a unified artistic vision. The completion of this new worship space for St. John Neumann Catholic Church allows for revered adoration for generations to come.
