For more than a century, Conrad Schmitt Studios has been involved in the decoration and restoration of churches, cathedrals, theatres and other landmarks - as well as the design and creation of stained glass, murals, and other works of art. The studio was founded in Milwaukee in 1889 by Conrad Schmitt, the son of Bavarian immigrants.
Bernard O. Gruenke joined the firm in 1936 as an artist/decorator and has directed the firm since 1951. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Stained Glass Association of America's prestigious "Lifetime Achievement Award."
Bernard E. Gruenke joined the firm in the 1950s and received his art training at the Studio under the direction of internationally renowned artists.
In the 1980s, the
third generation of Gruenkes, Heidi Gruenke Emery and Gunar Gruenke, joined the firm and continue the family's commitment to the quality and longevity of their art.
Under the direction
of the Gruenke family and the Studio's 60 plus talented employees, the Studio shall endeavor to continue its history of excellence.
