Thomas M. Hesburg Library - University of Notre Dame, Indiana

After 30 years of withstanding northern Indiana winters, the 132 foot tall "Word of Life" mosaic, which contains 81 different types of stone material from 16 countries, required attention.

The mosaic graces the south façade of the Hesburgh library and overlooks the north end of Notre Dame's football stadium, lending the mosaic its affectionate nickname "Touchdown Jesus."

The mosaic depicts Jesus surrounded by apostles, saints and scholars who have contributed to knowledge and learning through the ages.

Conrad Schmitt Studios replaced the missing pieces of the mosaic, removed and replaced nearly two miles of caulk and restored the entire mosaic.
